6 Reasons Why You Should Use ChatGPT Instead of a Human Designer

Especially if you’re a new business owner.

I was recently speaking to a fellow business owner about, you guessed it, ChatGPT. It’s a common story - she’s a busy woman, juggling family, friends, charity commitments plus running her own successful business.

She’s ambitious. But time poor.

So, she asked ChatGPT what she should do.

And it told her somethings…and some more things, and some more things.

She said she felt like the computer was giving her work, not the other way around.

And she left the interaction feeling even more overwhelmed than before, and with no clear action plan to make any of the suggested changes.

We aren’t computers. And that’s actually an advantage. Let me try to explain…

1. Ai Gives You Exactly What You Say You Want.

Imagine this - you’re working on your business idea and ask ChatGPT to create you a logo. You don’t like the first five iterations. You aren’t sure why, you just think they’re a bit meh. So you keep going…and going and going. Fifty logos later, you’re exactly where you started - but you’ve wasted two hours of your evening talking to a computer.

I can think of more interesting ways to spend a few hours! ChatGPT will give you exactly what you ask it to - but is that even what you actually need?

Experienced creative designers don’t just give you what you want. We listen to what you say, then figure out what you actually mean, and provide you with what you really need for your business. Often times, it’s something you didn’t even know you needed.

2. You Can Shut AI down.

ChatGPT can write you a social content plan.

Brilliant! Now you’ve got the next three months worth of posts all written down

…now what?

Time to shut the laptop and avoid that job further? Yea, I get you. If you work with a designer or creative on a project, it will result in something tangible. Once we get started on a creative project, we don’t just drop it halfway through.

I take on projects I’m excited about, for people I click with - I never let a project fizzle out. Take that as a threat, if you like.

3. ChatGPT Doesn't Have Emotions.

You can’t have a cup of coffee whilst chatting over your reason for starting your business with a MLM.

You can’t pull from real experiences with a machine that’s never known what it’s like to eat too many quality street on Christmas Day, or been stung by a weaver on Cobo Bay, or suffered the embarrassment of pushing a pull door infront of a whole open plan office on your first day in your first ever job (niche?).

You never leave a ‘meeting’ what ChatGPT feeling excited, motivated, listened to and ready for the next step. I bring snacks to mine.

4. ChatGPT is Free.

Buy cheap, buy twice - or in the case of ai, it’s free, so I guess that means generate ad infinitum?

Paying a service provider to take a load off your plate signifies a mindset shift that says to yourself ‘this is real, this is worth it, this is happening’.

Investing in your business - whether that’s taking the plunge and commissioning bespoke branding, setting up a website, or having luxe business cards created - is an act of intention.

Make a commitment to your business, and yourself. You’ll know when you’re ready.

5. AI is Really Easy.

You can log on at 2am if you want and get ChatGPT to write you a blog post, or rebrand your entire business, or create you a business plan for that product you’re convinced is going to change the world.

But in reality, this instant gratification rarely works out. If you don’t have to wait for it, work for it, and even really think about it, you’ll probably be onto the next brilliant idea sometime the following morning.

People can tell, and feel, when something hasn’t got any soul poured into it. If you don’t care enough to put an ounce of effort in to your business, then why should anyone else?

6. You Won’t Bump Into ChatGPT at Waitrose

This magical creature in the computer doesn’t really exist.

They won’t be rooting for you, buying from you, they won’t like all your instagram posts or recommend you to their friends.

They can’t keep you accountable and remind you why you started the business in the first place. And they won’t bump into you on a random Wednesday lunchtime in Waitrose and say hey - how’s it going! - and actually pay attention to the answer.
